Hi, I'm Jenny.

I'm a friendly, approachable psychology tutor and researcher. I have a First Class degree in psychology, an MSc in health psychology, and an LLB (with distinction).

My specialist areas are health psychology, research methods & statistics, and applied psychology (particularly within health and legal settings), but I am equally happy to tutor in other areas of psychology, or, indeed, study skills in general.

For students who may not need a full tutorial, I also offer a £5 Quick Question service, where you can email any question and receive an answer within 24 hours.

[Please note: I am happy to edit (read over, correct and suggest amendments to work) via email, but I'm not currently available for tutorials via Skype.]

Tutoring experience

I have been tutoring for the best part of a decade, teaching all levels, including National 5, Higher, Undergraduate and Postgraduate. I also regularly coach students in study and exam techniques, as well as presentation and interview skills.

Having spent a significant proportion of my life studying, education is clearly something I am passionate about. I have a real appreciation of how people learn and the skills involved, with my academic and tutoring record reflecting this understanding as well as my grasp of the subjects themselves. Moreover, having balanced the responsibilities of working and studying during my first degree, and parenthood, working and studying during my law degree, I am keenly aware of the pressures students can face. Crucially, I also have the qualities required to be a good tutor, including knowledge, enthusiasm, and the ability to present material in a clear and logical manner.

Approach to tutoring

I have a relaxed, patient and encouraging attitude to learning, believing that education is more effective if it is enjoyable. I also appreciate the various difficulties students can face and I am happy to adapt my style to suit your individual needs. In essence, my aim is to help you achieve your full academic potential. That said, if studying isn't your thing at all and you simply want to stem the stats tears or get some guidance while jumping through a few academic hoops, I can help there too.

Sessions can include, but are not limited to, teaching general or specific areas of the syllabus, coursework guidance, assignment editing, revision techniques and exam preparation.

Parents/guardians are welcome to accompany students to their sessions. (Tea/coffee, biscuits, TV & Wi-Fi available.)
