Miss Lucy Rothwell
I am currently a secondary school English teacher offering English Language and Literature GCSE and KS3 (years 7-9) tutoring in the Greater Manchester area. I consider myself very approachable and friendly; my students frequently comment that I am very helpful and kind and I pride myself on this.
Being a current, practising teacher means I am very up to date with the changes to the English GCSE and am familiar with a variety of GCSE texts such as: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, An Inspector Calls, The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde, A Christmas Carol and The Power and Conflict Poetry Anthology.
Every student deserves to have the strongest chance at their education and, with English being one of the most important GCSEs, this is ever more important.
Tutoring experience
I am a fully qualified teacher with QTS and PGCE grade of 'Outstanding'. I have an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature from the University to Sheffield.
I am also TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualified and have taught English in Thailand.
Approach to tutoring
All sessions are tailored to the student's needs and ability, with the aim of addressing any gaps in knowledge. The tasks will be relevant to the skills the student needs and/or the texts being studied in school.
My sessions will be designed to compliment any work being completed in school and a variety of resources and materials will be created and provided in every session. I am able to cover reading and writing skills, textual analysis and exam technique - ultimately, whatever area of English the student requires.
--> Sessions will undertaken at the student's home. I am based in the Stockport area.
--> I have a full DBS certificate and QTS certificate available upon request.
During term time I am available during the evenings and weekends. During school holidays I am also available during the week days.
