Contact Wendy

Hello, my name is Wendy. I am a mum to three children, two girls at Secondary School and one boy at Primary. I am a keen ceramics artist and create pots and bowls in my spare time.

Tutoring experience

I have been teaching for over 20 years in the primary phase and have experience of Year 1 teaching through to Year 6. I believe every child can succeed if the approach to teaching is right for them. I have been a KS1 leader and I have an extensive knowledge of the curriculum and small steps in learning as well as a creative approach which builds on their next steps in learning.

I am experienced at assessing and identifying children's needs in order either to provide a high standard of help to children who are behind or to further challenge children who are gifted or talented. My approach is child centred, creative and customised to support your child's needs.

During my teaching career I have worked across Hampshire and Yorkshire, been a phase leader and teaching coach. I have a proven track record in successful outcomes for pupils as well as pupil engagement and catch up teaching for children with specific learning needs.

Approach to tutoring

Whether your child needs to catch up, build confidence or boost attainment, I'm here to help. I can provide support in KS1 phonics and spelling, reading skills, maths, writing and in building confidence in preparation for KS1 SATs.

Please feel free to contact me for a free initial session where I can discuss with you what you would like to focus on and to introduce myself to your child as well as explaining the format of the following weeks. I am happy to provide short term support or for a longer term support depending on the needs of your child.
