Miss Helen Swan
I am an upbeat, energetic and dedicated qualified teacher. Aside from teaching, I enjoy walking, swimming, dog agility and cooking. I love tutoring and I am passionate about making a difference to all of the individuals that I teach. I view each new tutoring post as a privilege and a fantastic opportunity to unlock a child's potential and make a real difference.
Tutoring experience
Having gained a PGCE in 2013, I was a full-time class teacher for 5 years before becoming a supply teacher and private tutor in 2018. During the 2020 pandemic, my regular tutees switched their usual face-face lessons to online lessons and continued to make excellent progress. Whether your child needs an extra level of challenge or would benefit from a little extra support and encouragement, I bring a depth of professional experience and knowledge.
Approach to tutoring
My priorities when working with a learner are to ensure they gain confidence, independence and a deep understanding of the skills and knowledge that they require in line with the current National Curriculum. I aim to make each session meaningful and engaging by having a very clear learning focus and by tailoring the theme around the interests of the student.
